DIKUM DAY!
I came to school expecting nothing. Strontium has only had one "productive" practice, and our choreo was non-existent on the morning of the presentation. So, I gave up most (if not all) chances of winning. I just wanted to get it over with. An hour before the presentation, our choreo was still not finalized. At that point, I decided to let nature take its course. Instead of pressuring my classmates, I just let them have fun. Our class is good at that, after all.
Little did I know that our innate gift of having
too much fun (that drives our teachers crazy) would actually lead us to something positive. We bagged third place. :) We were all definitely surprised since we were expecting last place. Our presentation was totally crammed after all. Looking back, I think we placed because (a) the judges appreciated our energy/enthusiasm on stage (b) despite the fact that our instruments were purely percussion and had no melody, our instruments were the most unique (LOL typewriter...high heels...sand paper) (c) our blocking/arrangement on stage really set us apart. I think we underestimated ourselves too much.
The presentations were good in general. Cesium's (1st place) costumes were very well thought of, and the melody of their instruments was awesome. Rubidium's (2nd place) vocals were fantastic. They are definitely Paskorus material. :) Congrats to those two sections! Sodium's instruments rocked. They definitely deserved to place. Lithium's presentation was cute also. It screamed LEAN QUINIO. I'm proud of our batch for pulling off Dikum well despite the short period of time given to us. :)
Today was the Alumni Concert thingy. We volunteered to be Production Assistants (PA), but to some of the Alumni (ehem S****): Production Assistant = Slave. Haha. Despite being abused and underfed, (:| 70 pesos per person :|) most of the night was spent laughing at our PA fails. We laughed at Sam fails, too! After 3+ hours of carrying the rostrum, moving around music and mic stands around, throwing balloons and being enslaved by the Alumni, it was finally time to go home.
I'm ecstatic that Dikum's over. I can now enjoy Humanities week. I am finally stress-free (for now, at least.) Woooooohoo. I shall sleep now. I'm going to school at 9AM tomorrow, and no one can stop me. :)) Why? Because I'm a rebel. :))
